About

If there is a straight career and life path out there, I’ve missed it entirely. I was born in Sweden and have since lived and worked in Japan, the US, Canada, Mauritius, Germany, and Switzerland. My research interests have wandered no less—I've written on sustainability, leadership, cooperatives, political extremism, business history, and the impact of technology. If I had something like a guiding question, it would be how individual leaders and organizations adapt in moments of upheaval, especially when technology is thrown into the mix.

From 2016 to 2020, I was the founding Managing Director of the Swiss School of Public Governance at ETH Zurich and am now a Professor of Management at the Lucerne School of Business, Switzerland. I live in the Black Forest with my wife and our three kids. I have a Ph.D. in History and an Executive MBA.

Oh…and I've long been a passionate user of the “em” dash—long before ChatGPT discovered it!
